Double-speed Drive System
The DVD-1000 employs a 2x drive system that drives at 4x when the loaded disc is a CD. This unit is also equipped with a 4 MB buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout.
Super Sub Alias Filter
The DVD-1000 uses a Super Sub Alias Filter for the digital filter to optimize picture quality. This filter achieves attenuation characteristics of -3 dB in the ultra-high frequency band when the horizontal image is 6.25 MHz. Even at 8.25 MHz, the apparent outer limit of DVD-Video, the attentuation characteristic secured is above -60 dB, ensuring an ultra-high picture quality with superior horizontal line resolution.
10-bit Video D/A Converter
The 10-bit video D/A converter section reproduces video images more faithfully and in greater detail than conventional 9-bit processing. This high-performance converter lets you enjoy the best DVD picture possible, ideal with today's high performance video monitors and large screen displays.
24-bit, 96 kHz Audio D/A Converter
The DVD-1000 uses a highly accurate multi-bit Sigma Delta D/A converter with superior dynamic range and S/N characteristics. This converter provides plenty of support for the demanding 24-bit, 96-kHz sampling signals of the DVD-Video format. The incorporation of a differential circuit in the output stage and other features of the D/A converter ensure that playback sound is of the highest quality possible, the normal expectation from DENON's acclaimed digital technology.

Color Component Video Outputs
The DVD-1000 provides color component video (Y, CB,CR) outputs that provide the best reproduction of fine color detail with today's high end video monitors and large screen projectors that feature component video inputs. This connection method provides the best video quality, compared to "S"-video and composite video connections.
On-screen Display
A simple press of the Display button on the remote controller lets you see the current operating status of the DVD-1000 within an easy-to-read display on screen. The various operations and settings are easily changed using the remote controller while monitoring the screen display.
Advanced Digital Servo
High performance in reading pit information on the disc and in digitally processing that information improves the quality of the picture and sound that are reproduced. The DVD-1000 features a new servo DSP integrated circuit with a learning algorithm that has been optimized for such fluctuating factors as readings from the disc and digital processing to ensure further improved performance. Automatic adjustments by the servo preserve the data integrity of the signals being reproduced.
Closed Caption
Provides on-screen closed captioning, similar to TV broadcasts, with DVDs that are closed caption encoded.
CD-R Audio Playback (*1)
The DVD-1000 plays CD-R audio discs.
Compression Function (*2)
The DVD-1000 includes a compression feature that is convenient late at night or other times when you want to listen to a recording at low volume. During normal playback, when the volume is turned down, the gaps between the loud and soft sounds are too great, making it more difficult to hear the sound effects or lyrics. The compression function, however, improves sound clarity at low volume levels.
